Author Lawrence Block talks about his latest Matthew Scudder novel, A Drop of the Hard Stuff. Block says he realized there was a period of Scudder's life he had not written about - Scudder's early sobriety. The book is also a period novel, because it takes place about 30 years ago, which predates some modern technology, such as computers and smartphones. Take a look:
